Who we are:

We’ve been helping clients plan and invest for their futures for over 50 years. From more than 25 locations around the world, we provide investment services and retirement expertise to everyone from central banks to private individuals.

We’re known for acting with integrity and thinking for the long-term. And across our organisation, we foster a welcoming, caring, and inclusive culture where people feel respected, trusted, and able to be themselves.

At Fidelity International, we see our apprentices as a vital part of our business. We’ll give you the support and training you need to succeed, whilst gaining a qualification. In return, you’ll help us deliver world class services and become highly knowledgeable about our business.

The Programme you’ll join:

This programme sits within Fidelity’s Investment Management group, at the heart of what we do as a firm. Simply put, investing is an action we take with our clients’ money to make it grow. There are many things that Fidelity could invest our clients’ money in; from buying shares in companies to investing in buildings.

The Investment Management group is made up of different teams that are responsible for different parts of the investment process. Within these teams there various roles, for example:

• Research analysts, who are responsible for studying companies from every angle to assess whether each company might be a good investment.• Portfolio Managers, who are responsible for deciding which investments to buy and then looking after those investments to ensure they perform well for our clients.
• Traders, who are responsible for buying investments in the markets.
• Investment specialists and investment directors, who are responsible for engaging with our clients, updating them on how their investments are doing and working with our sales teams to win new clients.

These are just a few examples of the teams that make up the Investment Management group at Fidelity - there are many more all with important roles to play.

Apprenticeships in this programme will have the opportunities to apply for roles in six different teams that each play important roles in the investment management process. If you are interested in learning more, we will have separate descriptions for each role available.

What you’ll be doing:

We don’t expect you to come straight in and know everything about what we do.

As an apprentice, and whatever you’re studying, we’ll help make sure you get the most out of your time with us. Fidelity is a fantastic place to learn, innovate and grow. There are expert colleagues around the world to learn from and share ideas with.
Over the course of your apprenticeship, there will be opportunities for you to develop your investment knowledge, gain broad experience of your assigned team and the broader fidelity business.

You’ll assist with facilitating and leading on projects relating to specific investment initiatives or processes.

You’ll also develop your analysis skills and learn how this function operates whilst ensuring the best outcomes for clients.

You’ll help to build understanding and awareness of our competitors and what they’re doing.

One day a week you’ll be studying and preparing for assignments.

The difference you’ll make:

You’ll contribute to positive, meaningful work that make a difference to our clients. You’ll help them invest and plan they want. You’ll provide invaluable support to your team, too.

How you’ll be supported:

You’ll start with a welcome and an orientation, where you’ll meet your fellow apprentice and find out all about us and our work. Once the programme begins, you’ll learn every day – from the experts around you and through tackling real projects. Our focus will be on supporting you to gain experience and discover what kind of future you could build in our industry.

Support is part of our culture, so you’ll have a buddy and a mentor to help you whenever you need. And you’ll join a close-knit early careers community, with plenty of social and networking events to help you find your feet and feel at home.

What we look for:

We look for apprentice who are analytical, eager to learn and ready to take on a challenge. A genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn about investment is vital, as is a lively interest in our work and our industry. Creative thinking and attention to detail are important too.
And, as we’re an international organisation, we’ll need you to speak English.

You’ll need to:

• GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths and a Further Education qualification (A Levels, BTEC, IB etc.)
• Having an A-Level in Maths is a benefit in this role
• Be available to join us in September 2023
• Have lived in the UK for 3+ years as of September 2023
• Have the Right to Work in the UK
• Have good computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point preferred)
• Have excellent communication skills

Our clients come from all walks of life and so do we. We are proud of our inclusive culture and encourage applications from the widest mix of talent, whatever your age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, social background and more.

Training you’ll get

Over your two-year apprenticeship programme, you will be based in our London offices, where you’ll not only learn how our Investment Managements team contribute to achieving great results for our clients, but also build your knowledge of the wider business.
You’ll start your apprenticeship with a mini induction during which we’ll introduce you to investment management and how it fits into the City. After that, there are many more ways to develop your skills as your apprenticeship progresses.
At every stage, your development will be underpinned by the best apprenticeship training and professional certified courses.

Unlike other firms that hire on a volume basis, we take on a select number of apprentices. You will be highly valued here, so your development is heavily invested in from day one.

Social and networking events will help you get to know our people and culture. All the while you’ll be learning on the job, working to clear goals and understanding your own potential.
