We’re known for acting with integrity and thinking for the long-term. And across our organisation, we foster a welcoming, caring and inclusive culture where people feel respected, trusted and able to be themselves.

At Fidelity International, we see our apprentices as a vital part of our business. We’ll give you the support and training you need to succeed, whilst gaining a qualification. In return, you’ll help us deliver world class services and become highly knowledgeable about our business.

The team you will join:

The role of the Enterprise Network Services team is to maintain, support, implement and design network infrastructure, to support other infrastructure and platform teams within the Fidelity International technology department, whilst also enabling and underpinning the wider Fidelity International business. The team works with systems supporting data centres, public and private cloud environments, as well as campus & branch sites. These systems enable the development and support of business processes and applications that that underpin our revenue, operational, compliance, finance, and customer service functions.

The broader organisation incorporates Infrastructure services that the firm relies on to operate on a day-to-day basis including data centre, networks, proximity services, security, voice, incident management and remediation. From Wi-Fi to firewalls, and network monitoring to voice and video conferencing, the Enterprise Network Services team maintain and deliver it all, across a global team of 80 plus people, stretching from Canada to China.

What you’ll be doing:

We don’t expect you to come straight in and know everything about what we do.

As an apprentice, and whatever you’ve studied, we’ll help make sure you get the most out of your time with us.

During your apprenticeship, you will learn how to:

  • Work with senior engineers, product owners and project managers to assist with the implementation and upgrade of technology at Fidelity.
  • Help deliver service improvements without unnecessary investment in new products by working smarter, provision of better tools and better use of existing products.
  • Supporting employees with service requests and configuration requests relating to technology.
  • Supporting employees with any problems and queries relating to technology.
  • Help constantly monitor the entire network and escalate faults as appropriate.
  • Build and use knowledge of PowerShell, Python, Terraform and other scripting languages.

Responsibilities will be wide ranging, including managing and coordinating service improvement initiatives, network implementation planning and testing, disaster recovery testing and planning, being part of the 24x7 on call rota and supporting with technological change management.

How you’ll be supported:

Over your two-year apprenticeship programme, you will be based in either our Surrey or London offices, where you’ll not only learn how our Enterprise Network Services team underpins the technology functions of the organisation and contributes to making our organisation work seamlessly, but also build your knowledge of the wider business.

You’ll start your apprenticeship with a mini induction during which we’ll introduce you to investment management and how it fits into the City. After that, there are many more ways to develop your skills as your apprenticeship progresses.

At every stage, your development will be underpinned by the best apprenticeship training and professional certified courses.

Unlike other firms that hire on a volume basis, we take on a select number of apprentices. You will be highly valued here, so your development is heavily invested in from day one.

Social and networking events will help you get to know our people and culture. All the while you’ll be learning on the job, working to clear goals and understanding your own potential.

What we look for:

We’re looking for people that are interested in both the industry and the sector but ultimately those that are looking for a career which will reward them in both job satisfaction and development. During your apprenticeship, you will gain important insights and skills which will prepare you well for your future career, as well as learning from some of the best in the industry.

We welcome applications from students from all educational backgrounds. If you’re inquisitive and ambitious, an apprenticeship at Fidelity could be a great opportunity for you.
