Purpose of your role


 


The Summer Intern role mirrors the experience of a full-time Credit Analyst, conducting fundamental research to evaluate the creditworthiness of an issuer and assess the relative value of its bonds. The Intern will be assigned a project of discrete industry sector and group of companies to analyse. The Intern will have full and sole responsibility for those companies and access to all resources available to a full-time Analyst. The Intern will also have access to Credit Analysts covering related sectors and will be assigned a Portfolio Manager mentor. The Summer Intern will also have regular communication with a Director of Research. Training resources are available as required.


 


At the end of the internship, the Intern will present his/her findings and provide investment recommendations to our Portfolio Managers and Analysts. A fulltime offer will be extended to those candidates who demonstrate the aptitude, passion and desire it takes to become a successful full-time Credit Analyst.


 


Key Responsibilities



  • Be an independent thinker with the ability to effectively articulate an investment thesis and recommendation
  • Analyze and make investment recommendations for corporate issuers in offshore and onshore markets in China
  • Actively participate with portfolio managers and traders in strategy sessions that address credit trends, investment decisions and asset allocation
  • Make explicit bond recommendations to portfolio managers based on ‘proactiveanalysis
  • Preparation of research reports to support investment decisions and recommendations, based on her/his own research activities including management meetings, industry and company analysis
  • Work collaboratively with the global research team in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and London

 


Experience and Qualifications Required


 


  • 1st year MBA candidate.
  • Candidates with superior undergraduate academic records from all majors are encouraged to apply.  
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for investment management and fixed income. Previous work experience in finance is not required.
  • Highly self-motivated, thrive when given autonomy
  • Strong work ethic and desire to make an impact
  • Excellent analytical skills; able to think logically, critically & quickly
  • Intellectually curious
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Chinese
