Risk Graduate Programme 2022 - London, UK
Introduction
Like many other financial service institutions, Fidelity is exposed to Strategic Risk, Financial, Non-Financial and Investment Risk. The Global Risk function is responsible for the development of risk frameworks, tools and infrastructure to enable our business heads to manage risk and their risk appetite. This includes advising and supporting business heads on current and future risk exposures, risk and reward trade-offs, robust governance processes, and mitigation strategies to enable the best customer and employee outcomes, as well as sustainable profitability for the firm.
The Global Risk function forms part of the second line of defence which oversees and challenges Fidelity’s risk profile through our team of independent risk experts. Our team is highly skilled in quantitative and qualitative risk disciplines, and has a deep understanding of the business. We are present around the world and our involvement spans across all functions. Our team is diverse and we’re focussed on helping our people thrive and develop their career.
We’re looking for individuals who are interested in joining us on a rotational programme in our Risk business and seeking challenging and rewarding work.
What you’ll be doing:
We don’t expect you to come straight in and know everything about what we do.
As a graduate, and whatever you’ve studied, we’ll help make sure you get the most out of being a full-time employee.
You’ll have the opportunity to build a strong professional network with senior management across the organisation as you work on high profile change and transformation projects.
Graduates on this programme rotate through a number of different teams within the Global Risk function, which might include:
- The Non-Financial Risk Team: overseeing the application of the Operational Risk and Non-Financial framework to support the Fidelity strategic goals and business. This includes: providing oversight of Fidelity’s operational risk profile, control environment and mitigation activities (e.g. business and function management, legal entity boards, and control functions); promoting and reinforcing a strong culture of risk management and risk awareness; application of Risk & Control Self-Assessments to optimise Fidelity’s control environment; Risk Event framework oversight; development and oversight of Fidelity's Technology & Information Risk framework; and Portfolio, Projects & Change Risk oversight and assessment.
- The Investment Risk & Oversight Team: holding responsibility for the framework and governance of all aspects of Investment Risk including market risk, derivatives risk, sub-advised risk, fund liquidity risk and (fund and corporate) counterparty risk. The team also provides oversight of the Operational Risk and Model Risk associated with the Investment Process.
- The Investment Risk & Analytics Team: this team forms part of the Investment Risk function, alongside the Investment Risk Oversight and Investment Risk Operations teams. Responsibilities include ensuring that all investment risks taken by our funds are intentional, understood and appropriate for a given portfolio. To help perform this oversight, IR&A produce risk metrics such as Value-at-Risk and Stress Testing for Market Risk, and Fund Liquidity. IR&A, along with other teams, run the Investment Risk Committees which are the primary control meeting for overseeing investment risks within portfolios.
- The Enterprise Risk Team: providing the overarching risk framework that supports all aspects of risk management across the global business. The ERM teams which are based in the UK, Germany, Ireland, India and Bermuda ensure the Framework’s application, covering: financial risks, strategic risks (including corporate ESG risks), emerging risks, governance, risk culture, risk appetite, risk assessment, risk profile, the internal capital assessment and reporting processes - including capital models, and the global policy framework. The model risk teams that are based in the UK and India act as the independent model risk control and validation function and sit within the ERM team.
- The UK & Continental Europe Risk Team: a multi-national team, working across borders to partner with all of Fidelity’s client-facing businesses (Wholesale, Institutional, Workplace Investing, Adviser Platform and Personal Investing) to ensure that they manage their risk profiles appropriately. It does this by providing proactive and high quality risk support and oversight to the business, including risk solutions, training and education, challenge, assurance and reporting of risk. The team is strategic in its outlook and carefully weighs up risks and commercial needs. In this way, it contributes to the development of Fidelity International’s business and to the protection of its clients, end-investors and business interests.
