Multi Asset Intern Programme 2019, UK

Multi Asset

Multi Asset Intern Programme

Investment management. Fund management. Portfolio management. They’re all generic terms for what we do but we usually refer to our front-office business as Asset Management, as it’s where our investment decisions are made. It’s here that you’ll find Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts, Traders and Quantitative Specialists working in Equities (stocks) or Fixed Income (dealing in bonds, gilts and similar). This is also home to Multi Asset, which invests across multiple asset classes to get the best returns from a client’s fund or portfolio. Multi Asset is a specialist team, dedicated to designing and managing high-performing, client-centric investment solutions. Created to meet the increasing demand for investment portfolios that precisely match individual needs and diversify risk, it’s a fast-growing team that takes a highly sophisticated approach to fund management. Multi Asset professionals use sophisticated qualitative and quantitative investment techniques to get the best returns from a client’s fund or portfolio, while still carefully managing risk. The group invests across equities, bonds, real estate, commodities and alternatives, so there’s a big remit here.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll learn how different asset classes behave in the markets and research strategies across equities, bonds, currencies and more. You’ll leave us with an understanding of how we build multi-asset portfolios that deliver in the short and long term. And we’ll know if you've got the skills and potential to be offered a place on our graduate programme. Whatever you’re studying, we will teach you the skills and knowledge you need and help you to get the most out of your time with us. You’ll need intellectual curiosity and the absolute commitment to serving clients that everyone at Fidelity shares.

Who we look for:

Evaluating asset classes takes strong powers of deduction, keen attention to detail and good technical skills - it’s a matter of being able to think strategically. Numerical and analytical capabilities alone aren't enough – you also need to be decisive, communicative and adaptable. You will be in your penultimate year and need to have a minimum of ABB at A level or equivalent and be on track for a 2:1 or above.

Training and development:

We don’t expect you to come straight in and know everything about what we do. You’ll start the internship with a mini induction, during which we’ll introduce you to investment management and how it fits into the City, as well as to financial markets. After that, there are many more ways to develop your skills as your internship progresses. A series of ‘lunch and learns’ hosted by key business speakers will give you a first-hand, genuine insight and help you find out about the full scope of our business. Social and networking events will help you get to know our people and culture. All the while you’ll be learning on the job, working to clear goals and showing us you deserve a place on our graduate programme.
