“I have worked in five departments ranging from marketing, digital, sales to investment. It cannot get more flexible than this - you can shape your own path”

Genie - Sales & Marketing Graduate (University of Nottingham - Economics)

What will I be doing?

Over your eight weeks you’ll be allocated to one of our sales, marketing or product teams in either London or Surrey to give you a thorough understanding of our clients and their lifecycle, different markets and our products and solutions.

Sales

Within sales support you will gain exposure to clients, help to prepare for and attend client meetings, introducing Fidelity International and our capabilities. You will attend events to get to know prospective clients and assist in building relationships with existing contacts.

Marketing

You will work on innovative marketing campaigns and assist in developing new tools to help investors choose and manage their portfolios.  You could also be analysing data and assisting with market research that enables us to identify new trends in the marketplace, or product opportunities ahead of our competitors.

Product

We have product roles across all our asset classes. You would liaise with the investment directors and the sales teams to provide market commentary and client presentations to deepen your product knowledg

What we look for

We look for intelligent, quick-thinking students with a keen interest in the industry. For that reason, we take on people from all degree disciplines.

Thirst for knowledge

You will be highly driven with intellectual curiosity, ambition and an absolute commitment to serving the best interests of our clients. You’ll have the analytical skills to understand product performance and ideas to develop both new and existing markets.

Build networks

You will have the ability to build your network with individuals from a range of business cultures and backgrounds.

Confident and articulate

You must be confident, enthusiastic and articulate enough to shine in front of clients, particularly when presenting.

2:1 or above

You will be graduating in 2019 and you will have a minimum of three C’s at A level or equivalent and be on track for at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent).

Learning and development

Unlike other firms that hire on a volume basis, we take on a select number of interns. Your input over the eight weeks will be highly valued here as we welcome you in to gain some real experience in a leading Investment Management organisation.

Induction

We don’t expect you to come straight in and know everything about what we do. You’ll start the internship with an induction, during which we’ll introduce you to asset management and how it fits into the City, as well as to the broader financial markets.

Lunch and learns

There are many ways to develop your skills as your internship progresses. A series of ‘lunch and learns’ hosted by key business speakers from Sales and Marketing, Equity Research, Technology, Eight Roads (our venture capital business) and Distribution Operations will give you a first-hand, genuine insight into the full scope of each of our businesses.

Salary and Benefits

We invest a lot of time and resource into our internship students, ensuring you receive a really strong remuneration package for your eight weeks with us. You will receive a pro rata annual salary of £30,000. You also have four days’ annual leave entitlement over the eight weeks.

Application process

We like well-rounded applicants, which is why we will ask you questions that will highlight your personality and potential.

Online application

We value the different ways that people think. Don’t tell us what you think we want to hear - it’s not what you choose to write about that matters but how you articulate your thoughts. We will be looking for you to provide your answers via previous examples from academia, employment, voluntary work or societies you may have been involved with. You don’t have to do this all in one go – you can save and log in as many times as you want with your username and password.

You will need to:
- answer three questions to support your application
- provide an up-to-date CV

Online testing

Our online inductive reasoning test is focused on logical thinking and how candidates can work flexibly with unfamiliar information to find solutions to problems

Phone interview

If your application is successful, we will ask you to complete a motivation-based telephone interview, lasting approximately 30 minutes. We’ll ask you why sales and marketing within Fidelity International appeals to you, as well as learning more about your background and skills, and how you use these day-to-day.

Face to face interview

We are a little bit different to other businesses. We want to meet you and learn more about you before inviting you to an assessment day. This stage would be an opportunity to come into our offices in London, meet the team face-to-face and learn more about the business. Your interview would be an hour long, focusing on what you can bring to the role through competency and strengths-based questions.

Assessment centre

During the assessment, you will be involved in a combination of a group exercise, an interview and an analysis exercise.

Offer

Stand out at the assessment centre and we’ll offer you a place on our internship programme starting on 25th June 2018. You’ll have two weeks from the day you receive your offer to make a decision. We will assign you a current graduate as a buddy to help with your decision making. They will continue to be on hand to support you throughout your internship at Fidelity.

Internship/Placement

This Programme is closed to applications.
