Overview of the programme

Business with main focus on sales and marketing excellence is essential to the continuing growth of our business. These are the teams that develop new investment products, tell clients about them and manage relationships to make sure the right clients choose the right products. It’s a varied and fascinating part of Fidelity International to explore as an intern.

What you’ll be doing

This is a big opportunity to build your knowledge on products, various sales channels, marketing or customer services in this internship. We will assign you to one of the business departments where you will spend from eight to ten weeks.

 

There will be exciting client work to get to grips with, for example experiencing customer engagement activities such as the MPF Whiz Challenge Campaign, Personal Investing mystery market research or investment seminar. You will be given great opportunities to develop your interpersonal skills through participating in cross functional projects. Rest assured, you’ll return to university with an international perspective on investment sales and marketing that will set you up for life.

Interns will be assigned to one of the following departments: Digital Solutions, Hong Kong Intermediary Business, Product Development, Regional Institutional, or Regional Marketing Initiative & Client Experience. Please refer to the below key responsibilities in each of the departments.

Digital Solutions

Reporting into: Director, Digital Solutions

Key responsibilities of the intern:

  • Support the digital product and platforms team in researching industry trends and competitive analysis, providing recommendations and insights on how to improve our digital products and platforms
  • Liaise with discipline areas such as User Experience Design, Analytics, SEO, Digital marketing and technology teams to delivery improvements to our digital platforms (websites and apps)
  • Proactively learn and understand how the various disciplines of digital delivery work together and contribute ideas for improvement and increased collaboration
  • Support with co-ordination of design, user experience, research, testing activities relating to our digital product and platforms, taking learnings from the Digital product managers on the team
  • Support with organising meetings, taking meeting minutes and notes, follow up and co-ordination for digital projects

Hong Kong Intermediary Business

Reporting into: Associate Director, Intermediary Business

Key responsibilities of the intern:

  • Provide day-to-day support to Hong Kong Intermediary Business.
  • Work closely with the intermediary sales team to ensure they are fully prepared to interact with clients and promote Fidelity funds
  • Handle daily inquiries from clients ranging from marketing material delivery to basic operational issues
  • Manage projects to improve client experience and work process
  • Understand business model and support business planning and strategy development
  • Assist the team in preparation for various client events
  • Coordinate with relevant parties to prepare for client communications
  • Create and maintain sales presentation for both internal and external use
  • Interact with other business units (Marketing, Finance, Operations etc.) to ensure the Intermediary Sales team is able to operate at the peak of efficiency at all time
  • Develop and maintain both ad hoc and standard reports
  • Develop and manage sales support materials

 

Product

Reporting manager: Director, Strategic Product Development, Asia Pacific

Key responsibilities of the intern:

  • Support product strategy development for the Asia Pacific region through conducting research and feasibility studies
  • Assist with meeting preparation, facilitation, and reporting on project team meetings
  • Study specific topics in relation to regulatory developments or trends that may affect the asset management industry, with particular focus on implications on product strategy and design

 

Regional Institutional

Reporting into: Head of RFP Support and Director, Consultant Relations, Asia

Key responsibilities of the intern:

  • Work as an integrated member of the Asia Pacific RFP Support team, gaining direct exposure to the production of technical submissions on Fidelity’s investment capabilities, firm and operational / risk infrastructure to all types of clients in Asia Pacific ex Japan
  • Support to the production of Requests for Proposals – detailed technical tenders for large mandates (>US$50m) from institutions, including central banks, sovereign wealth funds, private and public pension funds and insurance companies
  • Support to the production of Due Diligence Questionnaires - formal documents to satisfy the counterparty risk and regulatory requirements of fund distributors, including retail banks, private banks and insurance companies
  • Project based support, including global strategic planning documentation and initiatives centred on investment capabilities and products

 

Regional Marketing Initiative & Client Experience

Reporting into: Brand Marketing, Associate Director

Key responsibilities of the intern:

  • Working with the Asia Pacific Customer Insights and Analytic team, the Intern’s primary responsibility will be to undertake various marketing programs by providing analysis on competitive landscape in the region from media spend to monitoring of product/solution campaigns and digital exposure.
  • The intern will be required to provide regular update on marketing programs/campaign effectiveness by reviewing campaign performance including metrics like media spend effectiveness, site engagement, brand awareness data and monthly commercial flows.
  • The intern will be involved in the development and execution of annual brand track study, review and consolidate the data from both retail investors and distributors level on areas like perception of FIL, brand equity, franchise awareness & other customer-centric metric vis a vis competitors; analysis will then be compiled to formulate part of the Global Marketing KPIs reporting.
  • Perform statistical analysis and output reports from Tableau to consolidate and analyse data sources such as market share, asset class /channel contribution etc to provide a deeper understanding of Fidelity’s business performance across the region.

You’ll need to be able to build ties with people from a range of business cultures and backgrounds. Confident and articulate, you’ll also have good analytical skills. Above all you’ll be ready to soak up new sales and marketing ideas and concepts and take on whatever responsibility comes your way.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Student in the penultimate year of undergraduate or master’s programme
  • Strong interest in financial services industry
  • Good academic performance
  • Initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent level of communication / presentation skills
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese
  • Excellent computer skills
